NEWS: Soldiers Kill 2 Boko Haram Terrorists During A Raid In Borno
Soldiers of the Nigerian Army have killed two Boko Haram terrorists during a raid in Gudumbali, Borno state.
This was disclosed by Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman via a statement.
According to Usman, the troops under the 118 Task Force Battalion, 8 Task Force Division laid ambush for the terrorists at Garere Junction.
The statement reads:
They also recovered 2 AK-47 and a G3 rifle. In addition, they recovered 660 litres of Premium Motor Spirit also known as petrol and yards of military uniforms.
The troops also recovered a truck earlier stolen by the terrorists in Kangarwa.
Breaking news: Court Remands Ex-Adamawa Gov, Fintiri In Kuje Prison
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that former Governor of Adamawa State, Adamu Umaru Fintiri be remanded in Kuje prison, Abuja.
His remand order was made by Justice Ahmed Mohammed shortly after Fintiri was arraigned on a five-count charge of money laundering.
Fintiri is accused, in the charge marked: FHC/ABJ/CB/CB/131/2016, of engaging in money laundering activities involving a cumulative sum of over N1billion.
Although Fintiri pleaded not guilty to the charge, he is to remain in prison custody until Friday when the court will rule of his bail application.

ENTERTAINMENT: Rapper Phyno Reveals He Has A Girlfriend And ‘She Looks A Bit Like Rita Dominic And Genevieve Nnaji’
Phyno featured on the ninth episode of “Bigger Friday Show”, hosted by Falz The Bahd Guy and Samantha Walsh.
He got to play a tell-all game with the show hosts and when he was asked who the last woman he kissed is, he revealed he has a girlfriend and she was the last person he kissed.
The ‘Connect’ singer however refused to reveal her name but told Falz she looks a bit like Rita Dominic and Genevieve Nnaji.
Phyno joins other entertainers who have been on show, including Maria Okan, Adekunle Gold, Simi, Burna Boy among others.
Meanwhile, the rapper has played down plans to get married anytime soon, after bluntly admitting in a chat that he is currently married to his music.

When he was asked about plans to get married, he said, “I think Flavour is right about entertainers and marriage. Right to some extent and wrong to some extent. Depends on your wife. If your wife is jealous, she may not be able to handle it”.
“For me, talking about marriage, when it happens it happens. I’m old enough to marry. But I’m married to the music right now”, he added.
The “Alobam” rapper commented about the ongoing baby mama syndrome common among Nigerian male entertainers.
NEWS: “We Have Paid N80 Billion Out Of N300 Billion Fine” – MTN Nigeria
MTN Nigeria has disclosed that it has so far paid a total of N80 Billion this year as part of the N300 billion fine settlement imposed on the company by the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC).
The statement was disclosed by MTN Nigeria Chief Executive Officer, Ferdi Moolman, speaking after the NCC formally declared MTN Nigeria as the winner of the 2.6GHz spectrum auction.
He said “we are also delighted that the matter of the fine imposed by the NCC was amicably settled in the interest of all parties. I am pleased to announce that the first payment of N30 billion in the terms of settlement has already been disbursed to the NCC. In addition to the earlier payment of N50 billion which we paid in good faith and without prejudice on February 24, this means we have now paid a total of N80 billion.
Speaking on th 2.6Hz Spectrum, Moolman said “We are very pleased with this development at this time, which is a further step in the right direction for Nigeria. Indeed, MTN is fully aligned and supports the NCC’s objective to deliver broadband services to present and future generations of subscribers, in line with the National Broadband Plan of 2013.”
The 2.6GHz acquisition, he said has set the stage for the roll-out of 4G LTE broadband internet services across the country, starting in the major cities of Lagos and Abuja.
He added “This license acquisition further demonstrates MTN’s abiding faith in the future of Nigeria and the resilience of the Nigerian economy. MTN continues to believe in Nigeria and we have expressed this belief in the level of our investment, which currently stands at approximately USD 15 billion and counting. We strongly believe that there is need for significant levels of investment in broadband infrastructure and services to truly launch Nigeria into the information age. We are honoured to be the arrowhead.

LAW: “My Mother-In-Law Had Beaten And Stripped Me Naked -Woman Tells Court
A 15-year-old marriage between one Dapo Ashorobi and his wife, Titilayo has been dissolved by a Lagos Island Customary Court on Wednesday, over constant abuse and assault by the latter’s mother-in-law.
The 32-year-old trader said that her mother-in-law had turned her husband into a “simpleton” and was the one controlling their home.
“My husband and I have been married for 15 years and we are still staying in his family house where his mother also lives.
“There has been constant trouble because of my mother-in-law’s presence in our home.
“My husband takes directives from his mother about how to manage his home.
“On several occasions, my husband will not eat the food I prepare just because his mother said he should not.
“My mother-in-law had beaten and stripped me naked on two occasions and my husband did not say or do anything about it.
“I can no longer bear the emotional and physical abuse as well as maltreatment,” she said.
The mother of three, therefore, prayed the court to dissolve the marriage.
The husband, Dapo, who did not deny the allegations, also prayed the court to dissolve the marriage as requested by his wife.
He told the court that his wife had refused to accept his pleas and had rejected all efforts toward reconciliation.
The President of the court, Mr Awos Awosola, ordered the dissolution of the marriage after concluding that the union had broken down irretrievably.
“The marriage between the two parties has broken beyond redemption. The marriage between the two is hereby dissolved with effect from today, June 29,” Awosola ruled.
He also granted the custody of the three children; Basir,10, Mutiat, 8 and Khadijat, 3, to their mother.
NEWS: lagos state government shuts down 70 churches and mosque
The Lagos State Government has shut down 70 churches, 20 mosques and about 11 hotels, club houses and beer parlours in a move aimed at reducing noise in the state.
Mr Bola Shabi , the General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), made this known in an interview in Lagos on Wednesday.
Shabi said that henceforth, the state government would no longer allow make-shift buildings to be used as places of worship.
“Precisely about 70 churches, 20 mosques and about 11 hotels, club houses and beer parlours were shut and we’ve given them some directives to follow.
“We’ve been so strict now that we are not going to even allow make-shift churches in the state any longer.
“What I mean by make-shift, using tents and uncompleted building, we are not going to allow that any further in the state.
“But I will strongly tell you that the level of compliance is more on the mosque area, because immediately you shut them, they instantly bring down their speakers or reduce the noise they make.’’
Shabi said that LASEPA planned to reduce noise in the state to 70 percent and to zero per cent by the year 2020.
“As at today, we are only able to reduce the noise level to about 35 per cent.
“That is not a pass mark yet.
“So, until we reach that target of 70 to 80 per cent, we will continue the enforcement.
“Enforcement is a continuous exercise and we have set a target for ourselves.
“We want to ensure that Lagos is noise-free by the year 2020.
“With our status as a mega city, by year 2020 we will be free of noise,’’ he said.

Fast-rising Ghana based Nigerian singer, Mr Eazi, whose real name is Tosin Ajibade, has revealed that meeting Wizkid was made possible by other Ghanaian artistes like R2bess and Efya.
Mr Eazi, who recently was signed on to StarBoy Worldwide owned by another Nigerian singer, Wizkid, said they treated him like family after hearing his songs.
”I had known R2bees from way back when I used to be into events and so I remember my first set of songs, I sent it to Mugeez, and he told me that it was dope. Since then, R2bess were worrying me to put out the songs even though we hadn’t started putting them out. they were like guy whats wrong with you? put out this music, so they became from client to family.
“I used to go to their house to chill. Then, they are also family with Efya, and after the songs, I and Efya became friends, we talked almost everyday and we were like a family, the family extends to Wizkid.
So it was more like meeting the other part of the family. So, it’s just like you met your brother.”

NEWS: Lagos State Court Sentences Bricklayer To Death By Hanging For Armed Robbery
A bricklayer, Femi Adebowale was on Tuesday sentenced to death by hanging for conspiracy and armed robbery.
Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of a Lagos High court, sitting in Ikeja found the convict guilty of a four count charge offence preferred against him by the Lagos state government.
She said the minimum penalty provided by the law is death sentence for each of the four account offence for which the convict was charged.
“In accordance with the provision of the law, you are hereby sentenced to death by hanging by the neck until death. May the Lord have mercy on us”, she said.
The Prosecution, Mr. Akin George had accused Adebowale of robbing one Alhaja Amudalat Olowo-Eyo of gold jewelries valued over N500,000.00; cash of N350,000.00 and other valuable documents at gun point.
The prosecutor said the convict, with others at large, robbed their victims on December 28, 2012 between 1.00 a.m. and 2.00 am at their residence, 10, Aiyetolu street, Abule Egba, Lagos.
The convict, when arraigned last year, had pleaded not guilty to the four count charge.
During trial, the complainant, Alhaja Olowo-Eyo had told the court how the convict and others at large robbed her at her residence.
She had told the court that she and her family were gathered in their parlour and told that they would waste their lives if they refused to cooperate with them.
She said she identified the convict as being among bricklayers brought in by her landlord for the renovation of the house two days before the incident.
She said that after robbing then, her husband was able to pin one of the robbers down, a situation that gave her courage to also held to another robber next to her.
In order to free himself, she said the robber shot her twice in the chest but that God kept her alive. She said colleagues of the convict who escaped came back 20 minutes later and rained bullets on their apartment.
She said one of her daughters was hit in the stomach, another on the back while her son was hit on the thigh. She said the incidence was reported at Ile Epo Police station while they were treated at the General Hospital in the area.
Delivering judgement in the matter, Justice Ipaye dismissed the alibi provided by the convict that he was away in Akure for his marriage introduction ceremony on the day of the incident.
She also described as not credible, the evidence provided by the supposed father in-law who told the court during trial he met the convict for the first time on the day of the ceremony.

LIFESTYLE:Nollywood Actress, Halima Abubakar Reveals Why She’s Not Interested In Marriage Now
Halima said, for her, being spiritual is a big deal and it is needed before taking marriage very serious.
“People need to know themselves seriously. When I say seriously, I mean spiritually before getting married. People only know themselves physically, not spiritually, so they end up getting bored with each other. And they will say they don’t want to get divorce because of what society would say after investing so much on the marriage,” she said.
The actress however said that marriage is overrated and too much of a headache. She made it clear that her marital status or lack thereof is nobody’s business.
“Marriage has been overrated. It’s unnecessarily over rated. It’s just too much of headache with how things are now. Even ordinary relationship is a huge burden, huge headache and heartbreaking, let alone marriage. When you can’t stand each other as boyfriend and girlfriend, how would you live together under the same roof when you get married?” she queried.

In 2013, it was reported that while in the UK, back in 2010, BurnaBoy was arrested by the police for allegedly being part of a gang and stabbing someone to death. He was tried as a minor and sent to jail.
He later traveled back to the UK but was arrested at the airport, deported to Nigeria and barred from the UK for 15 years.
In 2015, BurnaBoy hinted via a tweet that his ban would be lifted and hbais mum, Bose Ogulu, who led his management in November, 2015 told the public that Burnaboy would be going to the UK in the middle of 2016.

Deson: You know the world today has advanced, then it was with radio airplay but we pay little or no attention to airplay, now its web, getting your songs, business, events on websites reaches more people and even on a cheaper rates, so i will say through websites and blogs
Lifestyleof9ja: What are the challenges you as a hypeman encounter
Deson: Well one of the problems i encountered is "lack of trust" people find it hard to believe, they think we hypeman are charging much and especially when they are in another state or country, they think hyping is very easy and they can hype themselves but its not so.
Lifestyleof9ja: how do you overcome this challenge?
Deson: I have worked for a lot of artist big names and upcoming artists too. So when the 'lack of trust' situation occurs, what I do is just show them who I have worked with, my accomplishments, then this will boost the trust they have before.

Deson: When i see the desire in them, i always want to help them achieve the goal, i bring them from scratch, lecture them about what the industry looks like and we are good to go.

Deson: What i feel about nigeria entertainment is that they have deviated themselves from the true nature of music, they sing for fun, fame, money etc and not on what will motivate and inspire the youths/children that are listening to them.
Lifestyleof9ja: You know that upcoming artist sometimes are forced to pay before there songs can played by DJs and even for stage performance Do you believe this is right?
Deson: No normally they are not suppose to pay just to get their songs played by DJs neither paying to get a stage performance, they are supposed to be paid or not even paid as an upcoming, not the other way round, i don't support it,.
Lifestyleof9ja: What advice will you give upcoming artists
Deson: My advice is just keep doing great works, you might not be financially stable but feel free to talk to promoters, hypemen, bloggers, they might help you in one way or the other, never be discouraged, even if you have the talent still put a little hard working, talent cant do it alone, always remember that hardwork beats talent.

ENTERTAINMENT: Omawumi admits that She Nearly Lost Her First Child
Singer, Omawumi Megbele, known simply as Omawumi, has opened up on how she almost aborted her first child.
She is glad that she did not get rid of her first pregnancy, a baby girl she gave birth to in 2011.
“I just remembered the journey and how everything just arranged itself. What if I had done it differently waiting for the appointed time?
Who knows whether it would have turned out all wrong? …I hope I’m not raining on anyone’s aspirations, my own na say find happiness in the moment.”
The singer, who gained attention as the 2007 runner-up on West African Idols, later got married to the father of her daughter in 2015 at the Ikoyi Registry in Lagos.

Nigerian diva Yemi Alade attended the 2016 BET Awards and made a bold fashion statement on the red carpet wearing a piece from celebrated designer Zuhair Murad’s 2016 Resort Collection.
The dress the Effyzzie Music diva wore reportedly cost a staggering sum ofN2,500,000.
The “Na Gode” singer who was nominated for the “Best International Act: Africa” wore minimal make-up and jewelry and allowed the expensive dress do all the talking.
Yemi Alade who released her praised jewelry collection last year, will also be unveiling her fashion label “House of Tangerine (H.O.T)”, at the 2016 African Fashion Week Nigeria and London.

ENTERTAINMENT: wizkid should have won the BET AWARDS says black coffee
The 2016 BET Awards which was recently concluded saw South African artiste, Black Coffee, clinching the award for the Best International Act, Africa category.
Black Coffee, who was nominated alongside two other South African talented acts, AKA and Cassper Nyovest, said he wished the award would have gone to Nigerian superstar Wizkid.
In his word: I would like to see Wizkid take it. He’s worked hard! I really think he deserves it. He’s also done well internationally being featured on Drake’s album and working with Chris Brown.
Speaking further on his dreams and aspirations, Black Coffee said:
One of the things I dreamt about when I was young was to be friends with Michael Jackson. I always wanted to take SA to the world and be known internationally.
I had mapped down my dream since the beginning and I’ve been working towards them.
On BET, the multi-award winning DJ and Producer, said being nominated was a beautiful thing as it reminded him of all the hard work he has put in since the beginning of his career.
He also praised the award show organizers saying not only do they promote African artists, but they also ensure to work with the entertainers.
