1. Christ Apostolic Church

Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) is the first Aladura Pentecostal church present in Nigeria and other countries. It has come into existence in the first half of the 20th century, in the then-British empire. It was formally established in 1941 after a split from the Apostolic Church which the original Aladura organization (Faith Tabernacle) had invited to Nigeria. Its growth was led by Joseph Ayo Babalola, a road construction driver who became its founder.

2. The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG)

RCCG was founded in 1952 by Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi (1909–1980) after he had been involved in several other churches. Pastor Akindayomi then chose Enoch Adeboye, a lecturer in mathematics at the University of Lagos, who joined the church in 1973. Adeboye initially became one of the interpreters translating Akindayomi’s sermons from Yoruba to English. He was ordained a pastor of the church in 1975, and his appointment as leader of the church was formalized by the posthumous reading of Akindayomi’s sealed pronouncement.

3. Living Faith Church Worldwide

Living Faith Church Worldwide (also known as Winners Chapel) is a megachurch and a Christian denomination founded by Bishop David Oyedepo in 1981. The organization has since become a global network of churches with congregations in 49 countries.

The beginnings of the church can be traced back to May 1981 when Oyedepo claims to have had an 18-hour vision from God. In this vision God spoke to him saying, “Now the hour has come to liberate the world from all oppressions of the devil, through the preaching of the Word of faith; and I am sending you to undertake this task”. Two years later the church was formed with four members.

The ministry was founded in Pastor Chris’ university. There are several major programs with thousands to millions of people in attendance.

Chris Oyakhilome began by leading a prayer group at the University of Edo State, while studying architecture. The church’s foundation dates back to 1990 in Lagos. The denomination has churches in many countries. It counts 1 million members. The headquarters of Lagos has 40 000 members.

Deeper Christian Life Ministry (also known as Deeper Life Bible Church)is anon-denominational Christian Church with its international headquarters,Deeper Life Bible Church Lagos

in Lagos, Nigeria. It is overseen by the General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi. It is a Holiness-Pentecostal church.In 1973, while serving as a Mathematics Lecturer at the University of Lagos, W.F. Kumuyi started a Bible study group with 15 university students who had come to him requesting training in the Scriptures. The church started as the Deeper Christian Life Ministry.
William Folorunso Kumuyi, was a former Anglican who joined the Apostolic Faith Church after being his baptism.In 1975, he was expelled from the church for preaching without credentials. He continued his independent ministry, which in 1982 became the Deeper Life Bible Church. By the early 1980s that small group had grown to several thousand, at which time Deeper Life Bible Church was formally established.

6. Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries

The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries(MFM) is a Pentecostal organisation founded in Yaba, Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria in 1989, now with churches in several English-speaking and non-English speaking countries. It was founded by Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya (DKO). Mountain Of Fire And Miracles Ministries was founded by Daniel Kolawole Olukoya at a prayer meeting in 1989 in his living room.

The prayer group purchased a large site at an abandoned slum near the University of Lagos, and converted it into the International Headquarters of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries of which Olukoya is the General Overseer. The first service there was on April 24, 1994.

7. The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement

The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement (popularly called Lord’s Chosen) is a Nigerian Christian megachurch founded by Lazarus Muoka. The church which has its headquarters located along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Surulere local government area of Lagos State started with a few people and went on to experience rapid growth with over 300,000 branches all over the world. In 1994, Lazarus Muoka claimed to have had a vision from God instructing him to leave his former church to form what is now known as The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement. The church which was founded on 23 December 2002 commenced service on 24 December 2002 with a few pioneer members in a rented apartment at Ilasamaja, a town in Mushin, Lagos

Due to the increase in new converts in a short period, the church was moved to its present location in Ijeshatedo on a sixty plot of land which can contain over 30,000 members in a service.

Temitope Balogun Joshua (born June 12, 1963), commonly referred to as T. B. Joshua, is a Nigerian prophet and televangelist. He is the leader and founder of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), a religious organisation that runs the
Emmanuel TV
television station from Lagos, Nigeria.

Joshua wrote that in a heavenly vision he had received divine anointing and a covenant from God to start his ministry.Following this, Joshua founded the ministry organisation The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN) with only a handful of members. According to the organisation, more than 15,000 members attend its weekly Sunday service; visitors from outside Nigeria are accommodated in the accommodation blocks constructed at the church

The Celestial Church of Christ is an African Initiated Church founded by the Rev.
Samuel Biléhou Joseph Oshoffa on 29 September 1947 in Porto-Novo,Benin.Mainly located in Africa and in the Afro-descendant communities in the world, particularly in Benin and Nigeria.

The movement was founded by Samuel Joseph Bilewu Oschoffa, a former carpenter born in Dahomey (now Benin) in 1909. Raised as Protestant(Methodism), he had a divine revelation on 27 May 1947, during a solar eclipse, in a forest where he was lost. He felt called to pray, to heal the sick and raise the dead and founded his church in September 1947. Having appointed himself prophet, Reverend, pastor and founder, he occupied the highest office of the movement he had just founded.

Bank Manager, Olisa Nwakoby Commits Suicide In Front Of His Pastor Over N350M Debt

FCMB Bank Manager Olisa Nwakoby Kills Himself In front Of His Pastor In Lekki Lagos Over N350Million Debt. Mr. Olisa Nwakoby, a manager at a second generation bank, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Plc on Friday evening shot himself dead in the presence of his Priest at the Lekki area of Lagos Island, Lagos State.

The father of a 10-year- old daughter was said to have taken his own life because of an incriminating huge loan transaction he approved in his bank.

Sources close to the family told ST at the weekend that the late Olisa was the approving officer for the loan which the beneficiary is no longer servicing and the bank was on the neck of Olisa to get the money back.

His late father, Chief Patrick Oguejiofor Nwakoby was a former chairman of First Bank of Niger Plc, a successfully lawyer , politician and a highly respected community leader before his death.

Fear over his integrity and the name of his family, which could be dented if his bank commences action against him over the loan, was too much for the vibrant banker to bear prompting him to shoot himself, our source said.

Our source did not say that there was suspicion of any foul play in the death of the banker, she also could not confirm the actual amount involved in the transaction, but she simply said “it was huge.” The case is being handled by homicide detectives attached to Area J Command, Lekki/Ajah. According to a police source.

The banks, on the fateful day he killed himself, went to meet his pastor. He told the pastor to tell his wife to take good care of his children, that what he would do in next few minutes would shock everyone. He was said to have later blown his brains out.

The source continued, “It was later discovered that he took money from the bank, N350million, and the money started creating problems for him. He killed himself.”

When the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmus, was contacted, her two lines were switched off. Olisa hails from Nkwelle Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government of Anambra State and he attended Abia State University, where he bagged a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree, in Microbiology between 1990 and 1995.

An alleged photo of a Muslim girl twerking while wearing the hijab has left many people shocked after her photos appeared online.
A supposedly Muslim girl has left tongues wagging after she wore a hijab and twerked on stage before many people during a concert in Kampala, Uganda.
The endowed woman dressed in a figure hugging dress left the crowd dazed as she wiggled her bum in all directions. However, what infuriated most people was the the choice of her dress as they accused her of having no respect for the hijab.



Someone commented: “I live in Uganda and I love the country.
“They live a free life – not giving two damns about religion – Christianity and/or Islam.
“And by the way, I’d prefer Uganda 10 times and more over Nigeria – keep your arguments to yourself.
“The government provides water, electricity and more 24/7.”

FG bans purchase and distribution of bags & T-shirts at government workshops and conferences

The Federal Government has banned the purchase and distribution of conference bags, T-shirts and other souvenirs at events such as Conferences and Seminars funded by Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by the Director of Information, Federal Ministry of Finance, Salisu Dambatta today July 31st.
According to the statement, the ban was in continuation of the on-going cost-cutting and efficiency drive in the utilization of public funds by the present administration. The statement reads in part 

 “The directive which is a recognition of the fact that in a period of lean financial resources unnecessary expenditure on overheads such souvenirs are luxuries that the government must eliminate. 

This will enable release of funds for infrastructure and services such as health and education that would have direct positive impact on the well being of the citizenry and promote economic development. The directive also contained specific guidelines that would reduce the cost of printing Invitation Cards, Programme of events, Brochures, Folders and Note Pads. Among the guidelines are that they should be in black and white and limited to only one page and in the case of Brochures they should be streamlined to contain only essential information”it said. Also, the statement said the printing of unnecessary publications and books of short shelf life which have no real value to the concerned public institutions or the citizens has also been banned. “MDAs were encouraged to save costs by uploading such publications on their websites which has the added benefit of wider visibility” the statement read

Lebanese Mathematics teacher killed in Sokoto

A well known Lebanese Mathematics Teacher, Moin Amsuri, who teaches at the Nagarta College in Sokoto state was murdered by unknown gunmen at his residence in Yauri, Sokoto on Thurs. July 28.

The state police spokesperson, El-Mustapha Sani, who confirmed the incident, said the gunmen are suspected to be armed robbers as the deceased Toyota car has been missing since the incident.

"The deceased was suspected to have been killed by gunmen who are right now at large. The incident was said to have occurred on Thursday at his residence in Yauri flats, Sokoto, and it was reported to the Gwiwa Police Station on the same day. We are suspecting that the assailants were armed robbers as his Toyota car is still missing,”he said

The deceased who taught Mathematics in various secondary schools in the state for over three decades was buried in Sokoto on Friday July 29th according to Islamic rites.

Nigerian Military attacks Ijaw militants in Ogun State

The Nigerian Military has continued the aerial bombardment of Fatola, the hideout of militants and pipeline vandals in the Arepo area of Ogun State. According to online reports, the air raid happened in yesterday afternoon and was said to have lasted 30 minutes. A fighter jet fired missiles at the Iroko creeks, leaving no fewer than 100 suspected militants dead and their camps/shanties destroyed.

Residents were caught unawares and had to run from their homes to avoid being hit during the bombardment.


The Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar confirmed the air strikes. According to him, the joint operation will continue until the area is secure and free from all criminal gangs, either militants or vandals. However, he didn't ascertain the number of casualties from the strike.

Many wounded As Boko Haram Attacks UN Team, Soldiers In Borno State

A team of United Nations, UN, officials were attacked on Thursday by Boko Haram, DAILY POST can exclusively report. The officials’ convoy, escorted by heavily armed soldiers, came under heavy attack as they made their way to Bama. An impeccable source told our correspondent Thursday night that the officials, working for the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, were ambushed at an area close to Bama, under Konduga local government area of Borno State. Konduga is less than 30 kilometres away from Maiduguri, the state capital. The UN team, it was learnt, and other donor agencies were going to an Internally Displaced Persons camp in Bama on an intervention mission The delegation was moving food items and drugs to the IDPs. “Boko Haram fighters numbering over 50, armed with anti aircraft gun (machine gun mounted on open truck), suddenly emerged just after Kawuri village and rained bullets on the UN motorcade,” said the source. “One of the officials confided in me that the soldiers saved the day. They fought with everything they had until Boko Haram retreated into the bush. This would have been a great embarrassment to Nigeria. “Four of the soldiers and and driver of one of the UN vehicle was hit. The person beside the driver took control of the vehicle. If not, it would have been disastrous for the occupants. “Some officials sustained minor injuries, no lives lost. All survivors are presently at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital”, the source stated. When contacted, Army spokesman, Col Sani Usman, told our correspondent on phone that he will get back. In a statement he later sent, Usman noted that “Troops returning from Bama on humanitarian escort duty, were ambushed enroute Maiduguri by suspected remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in Meleri village, a few kilometres from Kawuri. “The gallant troops, however, successfully cleared the ambush and exploited up to Afunori. “Unfortunately, 2 soldiers and 3 civilians were wounded in the ambush, among whom were staff of United Nations agencies and other international humanitarian organizations. “The wounded have been evacuated to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri and they are in stable condition. “The Nigerian Army wishes to sympathize with our wounded colleagues, the United Nations and other Non-governmental organizations whose personnel were also injured in this sad incident. “We wish to reiterate our determination and commitment to ensuring safety and security in the North East and safeguarding the lives of all persons.” Reacting, Biodun Banire, Public Information Assistant, UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, told DAILY POST, also confirmed the incident. “I just got the information, there was an attack. Our officials and soldiers were attacked but no casualty. “All responding to treatment. I can’t say more than this. I will provide an update later”.
